How to Pack For One Month In One Roll aboard Suitcase
If cruising is how you choose to spend your travel dollars, skip this blog post. For those who begin their journey on an aircraft, it’s time to take a cold, hard look at what you’re packing, and ultimately, what you’re needlessly (there, I said it) schlepping.
22 precious inches. It’s the gold standard that allows you to bring all your stuff with you. It’s the way to ensure your clothes don’t end up in London when you’re going to Edinburgh. It’s how you save 20-30 minutes at each arrival city. It’s how you save $25 in nasty baggage fees (We Love You, Southwest!!!) It’s a guaranteed way to eliminate stress as your fellow passengers stare out the aircraft window watching the bags get rained on and brutally tossed around. “Is it there?” “Did my bag make it on?”
I’m not saying it isn’t hard. 22” of prime packing real estate is not roomy. We all want to look good at our destination. But, you can. I’ve got the list. I’m going to share it here in this video.
Listen up – this list works for one week, two weeks – or a month. I’ve done it. You CAN do it. You and a travel size bottle of Woolite make it all possible. Because, let’s be real. Other than your travel partners (if you’ve got them), who is actually going to know you wore that exact outfit 3 days ago?
Full disclosure. When Derek and I set off for a week or a month, in addition to the 22” rollaboard, I also take a backpack that holds my headphones for the plane, camera, chargers, cosmetics, book, prescription drugs, medicine bag, foldable day pack, snack – and has room left over to hold my purse when going through security. If I am going to a destination where I know I’ll be doing lots of shopping, I also bring what I lovingly call, the “Expando-Bag”: a foldable duffel that can be called into service upon the acquisition of great curios, gifts for the peeps at home, etc.
By the way, you can find all the stuff (including the clothes) we use and recommend at our Travel Resources page. We get a small commission if you buy from the links on this site, and it’s the same price as buying direct, so please click our links when you’re ready to buy so we can keep this website going. Thanks!
